The National Honor Society is the leader among educational organizations and societies that promotes recognition for students who reflect outstanding accomplishments in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Membership in the National Honor Society is a privilege.
Students must meet the following criteria to be considered for admission to the National Honor Society:
Scholarship
Candidates must have a 93 average to be considered. This includes all required courses and electives, and/or dual enrollment. Weighted courses will be counted with weight.
Leadership
Positions of leadership include but are not limited to the following:
School organizations, community organizations, classroom roles, athletic team captains, section leaders in band or chorus, and committee chairs in student groups.
Service
Actions undertaken by the student which are done with or on behalf of others without any direct financial or material compensation.
Character
A candidate will be able to demonstrate an outstanding record of conduct and behavior with regard to school and community rules, guidelines, policies, or be able to demonstrate sufficient growth and improvement to compensate for previous inadequacies.
The faculty council can use, but are not limited to the following documentation sources:
Administrative records
Counseling records from guidance office
Conduct/behavior - discipline record
Faculty evaluations
Written word from candidate
The Faculty Council will use the above tools to evaluate each candidate on an individual basis. The Council will use their discretion to make a final decision on the admission of the candidate.
